# Canon EOS R8 real estate photos from a light, affordable full frame body

The Canon EOS R8, released in 2023, puts a full frame sensor from the same class as the R6 Mark II into a small, light body at a much lower price, which makes it a popular step up for agents and photographers leaving phones or APS-C behind. The savings show in the details: no in-body stabilization, a single SD slot and the small LP-E17 battery. On a tripod, none of that limits interior work much. NovaHDR finishes the exports from your R8 workflow as one property, with balanced exposure and consistent color room to room.

NovaHDR does nothing specific to the R8; the JPEG, PNG or WebP files you export are finished like any other source.

## From an R8 shoot to NovaHDR

1. **Prepare one image per view** Blend R8 brackets in your own HDR software, or choose a single frame, and export a JPEG for each view; CR3 files and bracket sequences are not accepted.
2. **Upload the listing** Name the property and upload the rooms and exteriors together, up to 50 photos, so they are finished as one home.
3. **Send the property** Use One Property or a plan credit and send it. The set comes back 24 to 72 hours after you send the property, and the approval before delivery is yours.

## Working around the R8's budget choices

The R8 saves money in a few places. These habits stop those savings from showing in listing photos.

- **Always use the tripod indoors**: With no in-body stabilization, handheld rooms blur in dim light. A tripod and the self-timer solve it and let you keep ISO low.
- **Pack three batteries**: The small LP-E17 battery drains quickly with the electronic viewfinder in use. Spares, or USB power on longer shoots, keep a big house from stalling.
- **Back up after each job**: With a single SD slot, copy the card to a laptop or drive before the next listing.
- **A cheap wide prime, or the 14 to 35mm**: The RF 16mm f/2.8 is small and inexpensive but shows strong barrel distortion that your raw editor's profile has to handle; the RF 14 to 35mm f/4L costs more and needs less fixing.
- **Keep the vari-angle screen in use**: Flip it out for counter-height kitchen frames and high stairwell shots without climbing behind the camera.

## What to know about the R8 for listing photos

- **R6 Mark II class sensor**: The R8 shares its sensor class with the R6 Mark II, so image quality on a tripod is very similar.
- **No in-body stabilization**: This matters handheld; on a tripod for rooms and brackets it barely does.
- **Single slot, small battery**: One SD slot and the LP-E17 battery are the main working compromises.
- **Popular first full frame**: Many R8 owners came from phones or APS-C bodies and are building a listing kit for the first time.
- **Finished as a set**: NovaHDR finishes the exported property as a whole, with balanced exposure and consistent color, and a natural look.
- **Formats and limits**: JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 50 photos and 50 MiB each. RAW, TIFF and bracket sets are not accepted.

## Canon R8 versus R6 Mark II on a listing

|---|---|---|
| Sensor class | Same | Same |
| In-body stabilization | No | Yes |
| Card slots | One SD | Two SD |
| Battery | LP-E17, small | LP-E6NH, larger |
| Weight and price | Lighter, cheaper | Heavier, dearer |

## What does finishing Canon R8 real estate photos mean?

Finishing R8 real estate photos is the property-wide exposure and color pass on your exported images. NovaHDR leaves your capture choices alone and brings the rooms into one consistent, natural-looking set for your final check.

_It is not raw processing, distortion fixing or bracket merging._

## Canon EOS R8 real estate questions

### Is the Canon R8 good for real estate photography?

Yes. On a tripod its full frame sensor performs close to the R6 Mark II. Plan around the small battery and single card slot.

### Does the R8's lack of stabilization matter for interiors?

Not on a tripod, which is how most listing rooms are shot. It matters for handheld detail shots in dim light.

### Which lens should a new R8 owner buy for listings?

The RF 14 to 35mm f/4L if the budget allows; the RF 16mm f/2.8 is a cheaper start that needs a distortion profile in your editor.

### Can I upload R8 CR3 files?

No. The R8 CR3 files are for your own editor; NovaHDR takes the JPEG, PNG or WebP you export from them.

### What can finishing not do for R8 photos?

Recover detail the file does not hold, such as a blown window, or add or remove anything in the rooms.

### How much does finishing an R8 listing cost?

Up to 50 photos form one property: $29 one-time for one property.
