# DJI drone real estate photos: aerials and exteriors in the same set

Most real estate aerials today come from DJI drones, usually a Mini series model for its light weight and price or an Air series model for steadier flight in wind. Aerials show the roof, lot, yard, pool and neighborhood, but a drone's camera sets exposure and Auto white balance on every frame, and the bright sky pulls exposure down so the house goes dark. NovaHDR takes aerial exports as ordinary photos: JPEG, PNG or WebP files uploaded in the same property as the ground-level shots, finished with the rest of the set for balanced exposure and consistent color.

The sky, lawn and roof stay as you photographed them: there is no sky replacement, lawn work or aerial-specific treatment.

## From a DJI flight to a finished property

1. **Blend AEB on your computer, export JPEGs** If you shot AEB in DJI Fly, blend each burst in your own HDR software; otherwise pick the best single frame. Export one JPEG per view; DNG files and bracket sets are not accepted.
2. **Upload aerials with the rest of the house** Add the aerial exports to the same NovaHDR property as the interiors and ground-level exteriors, up to 50 photos in all.
3. **Send and review** Use One Property or a plan credit and send the property. The finished set, aerials included, is back 24 to 72 hours after you send the property for your review.

## How pilots commonly shoot DJI aerials for listings

These are common habits for listing aerials. Flight rules come first: registration, licensing and airspace limits vary by country, so check your local aviation authority before any paid flight.

- **Fly with the sun behind or beside you**: A front-lit facade shows color and detail; flying into the sun makes the house a silhouette against a bright sky.
- **Lock white balance**: Auto white balance shifts as the drone turns toward and away from the sun. A fixed daylight setting keeps a set of aerials matched.
- **Use AEB for contrasty light**: DJI Fly's AEB fires a short burst at different exposures; hover in calm air so the frames line up when you blend them.
- **Pick altitude for the story**: Low aerials show the house and yard; higher ones show the lot, the street and nearby amenities. Many listings use both.
- **Shoot at good times of day**: Midday sun flattens roofs and casts hard shadows; mid-morning or late afternoon light is easier on most homes.
- **Watch the gimbal angle**: A slight downward tilt shows the roof and grounds; a level gimbal shows the facade and horizon. Keep the horizon level.

## What to know about DJI photos for listings

- **Small sensors and bright skies**: Drone cameras have small sensors, and a bright sky in the frame pulls metering down, leaving the house darker than it looked.
- **AEB and DNG**: DJI Fly offers AEB bursts and DNG raw files; both belong in your own editing workflow before upload.
- **Wind affects sharpness**: Lighter drones drift more in wind, which can misalign AEB frames or soften single shots.
- **Rules vary by country**: Weight class, registration and licensing rules differ by country; check them before flying a listing.
- **Aerials as ordinary photos**: Aerial exports upload as JPEG, PNG or WebP like any other photo and are finished with the property as one set.
- **Nothing added or replaced**: Exposure and color only: the sky, the lawn and the roof stay as photographed.

## DJI drones commonly used for listings

| Drone | Class | Typical pilot |
|---|---|---|
| Mini 4 Pro | Lightweight Mini with all-round obstacle sensing | Photographers adding aerials |
| Mini 3 Pro | Older lightweight Mini | Budget and used buyers |
| Air 3 | Mid-size, dual camera | Pilots who fly often in wind |
| Air 3S | Mid-size, larger main sensor | Pilots wanting more detail |
| Neo and Flip | Small selfie-style drones | Casual use; less common for listings |

## What does finishing DJI real estate photos mean?

Finishing DJI real estate photos means your exported aerials are uploaded with the ground-level photos and finished as part of one property set, with balanced exposure and consistent color. The aerial view, sky, roof and lawn stay as photographed; nothing is replaced or added.

_It is not sky replacement, lawn work, DNG conversion or AEB blending._

## DJI drone real estate photography questions

### Which DJI drone is best for real estate photography?

Many pilots start with a Mini 4 Pro for its light weight and obstacle sensing; an Air 3 or Air 3S handles wind better and adds a longer lens.

### Can I upload DJI DNG files?

No. Export JPEG, PNG or WebP from your editor first.

### Will NovaHDR replace a grey sky in my DJI aerials?

No. The sky stays the sky you photographed; fly on a better day if the sky matters for the listing.

### Do aerials need to be in the same property as the interiors?

That is the usual approach: one property per home, aerials and interiors together, up to 50 photos.

### Do I need a license to fly a DJI drone for listings?

In many countries, paid drone work requires registration or a remote pilot license; check your local aviation authority.

### Are small drones like the DJI Neo or Flip good for listings?

They can take photos, but most real estate pilots prefer a Mini or Air model for steadier flight and camera control.

### What does a property with aerials cost to finish?

Aerials count toward the property's 50 photos: $29 one-time for one property, or one plan credit.
