# iPhone real estate photography, from camera roll to a finished set

Plenty of listings are now shot on an iPhone, by agents and by photographers who keep the phone as a second camera. Smart HDR blends several frames into every shot, which helps with bright windows, but it also decides white balance and contrast photo by photo, so a living room and the bedroom beside it can come out noticeably warmer or cooler. NovaHDR takes the photos you export and finishes the property as a set, with balanced exposure and color that stays consistent from room to room.

NovaHDR has no iPhone mode: you send ordinary JPEG, PNG or WebP exports and they are finished like any other source image.

## From iPhone camera roll to a finished property

1. **Export JPEGs rather than HEIC** Recent iPhones save HEIC unless told otherwise, and NovaHDR takes JPEG, PNG or WebP. Set Camera, Formats to Most Compatible before the shoot, or export your picks as JPEG afterwards. ProRAW frames go through Lightroom or Photos first and leave as one JPEG per view.
2. **Upload the house as one property** AirDrop or a cable moves the files onto your computer. Name the property in NovaHDR and add every room you plan to deliver, up to 50 photos, so the phone's shot-by-shot differences can be evened out across the whole home.
3. **Send, then check the set** Choose One Property, a plan or a credit, then press send; uploading by itself does not start anything. The finished photos come back 24 to 72 hours after you send the property, and you look them over before the agent or seller sees them.

## iPhone capture habits that finish well

These are habits phone shooters use to get cleaner sources. They belong to your capture workflow, and they simply give the finishing more to work with.

- **Use the 0.5x lens with care**: The ultra wide fits a small bedroom in one frame, but it stretches furniture near the edges. Back into a corner, keep the phone level and leave breathing room at the sides.
- **Steady the phone**: A small tripod with a phone clamp, plus the self-timer or a Bluetooth remote, keeps dim rooms sharp. Night mode also behaves far better on legs than in the hand.
- **Lock exposure on the room**: Long-press a midtone wall for AE/AF Lock, then drag the brightness slider down until the windows hold some outside detail.
- **Turn on Grid and Level**: Both live in Camera settings. Holding the phone at chest height with the level centered keeps door frames and walls upright in the source.
- **Keep one Photographic Style**: Styles and filters shift tone on every photo. Leave it on Standard, or pick one style for the whole shoot, so the rooms start out alike.
- **Switch off Live Photos**: Each Live Photo carries a short moving clip alongside the still. Turning it off keeps exports simple and the files lighter to move.

## What makes iPhone listing photos tricky to finish

- **Shot-by-shot processing**: Smart HDR and Deep Fusion tune each frame on its own, so two rooms photographed a minute apart can land with different white balance and contrast.
- **HEIC by default**: Recent iPhones save HEIC unless the format is changed, while many web uploaders and editing services expect JPEG.
- **Small sensors in dim corners**: The ultra wide sees a lot of the room, yet in low light it gets noisy faster than the main lens, which is why a tripod and daylight help.
- **Bright windows can still clip**: Phone HDR copes with a lot of contrast, but a window facing direct sun can still go white, and a white window in the source stays white.
- **Finished as one property**: NovaHDR balances exposure and keeps color consistent across the whole upload, so room-to-room differences settle into one set.
- **Source images only**: JPEG, PNG and WebP are accepted. RAW, TIFF and bracket sets are not, so convert ProRAW and blend any bracketed frames in your own software first.

## iPhone settings and what to send

| Setting or habit | Why it matters for a listing | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Formats: Most Compatible | Saves JPEG instead of HEIC | JPEG files straight from the camera roll |
| 0.5x ultra wide | Fits small rooms, stretches edges | Level frames taken from a corner |
| AE/AF Lock | Stops exposure jumping between frames | A frame where windows keep some detail |
| Photographic Style | Shifts tone on every photo | One style for the whole shoot |
| ProRAW on Pro models | Large DNG files that are not accepted | A JPEG export of each ProRAW frame |
| Night mode | Long exposures blur in the hand | Tripod frames from dim rooms |

## What does finishing iPhone real estate photos involve?

Finishing iPhone real estate photos means taking the phone's exported shots and giving the whole property one consistent exposure and color balance. The phone has already blended exposures inside each frame; finishing works across the frames, so the kitchen, the hallway and the bedrooms look like one home photographed on one day, with a natural look rather than a heavy filter.

_It is not a phone app or a camera mode, and nothing is added to the rooms: furniture, views and fixtures stay as photographed._

## iPhone real estate photography questions

### Is an iPhone good enough for real estate photography?

For many listings, yes: rentals, condos and agent-shot homes especially. Use a tripod, the ultra wide with care and good daylight. A dedicated camera still gives more control in very dark or very contrasty rooms.

### Can I upload HEIC files straight from my iPhone?

No. NovaHDR accepts JPEG, PNG and WebP, so switch the camera to Most Compatible or export your selects as JPEG before uploading.

### Should I shoot ProRAW for listings?

It gives more room in your own editor, but the DNG files are not accepted for upload. Convert each ProRAW frame to JPEG in Lightroom or Photos first, one image per view.

### Does NovaHDR treat iPhone photos differently from camera photos?

No. There is no phone-specific handling: an exported iPhone JPEG is finished like any other source, together with the rest of the property.

### My iPhone blew out a window completely. Can that be fixed?

No. Finishing works with the detail the photo holds. Reshoot with exposure locked lower, or bracket with a camera app and blend the frames yourself before export.

### What does a property shot on an iPhone cost to finish?

Up to 50 phone photos count as one property: $29 one-time for one property, or one credit if you are on a monthly plan.
