# Loft photos with tall windows, raw materials and one open room

Lofts are built around one large open room and a row of tall industrial windows, which makes them dramatic in person and tricky on camera. The windows throw strong directional light that fades quickly across a deep floor, exposed brick and timber beams soak up light and turn warm, and polished concrete reflects whatever is above it. NovaHDR finishes the loft as a set with balanced exposure and consistent color, so the brick reads as brick, the concrete stays neutral and the sleeping area matches the living space.

The character stays: exposed ducts, beams and raw surfaces are left exactly as photographed.

## How to send a loft for finishing

1. **Export the loft's key views** Pick the wide views of the open room from each end, the kitchen, the sleeping area or mezzanine, the bath and any building features. Export a JPEG, PNG or WebP for each, with brackets blended in your own software first.
2. **Upload as one property** Name the property after the building and unit and upload up to 50 photos together, so the brick and timber look the same in every view.
3. **Send, then review** One Property or one plan credit covers the loft; send it once every view is uploaded. Finished photos come back 24 to 72 hours after you send the property for your review.

## Capture notes for lofts

Lofts depend on their windows and materials. These habits help the source frames show both.

- **Shoot along the windows, not into them**: A view down the length of the room with the windows to one side shows the light falling across the floor without the glass dominating.
- **Pick a time with softer sun**: Hard sun through tall windows creates bright stripes on concrete. A brighter overcast hour or a time when the sun is off that wall gives more even light.
- **Show the ceiling height**: A slightly lower camera that includes beams or ducts helps buyers see the volume of the space.
- **Light the far end**: The side away from the windows gets dim fast. Switch on pendants and lamps on that side.
- **Keep the mezzanine in context**: A frame from the mezzanine looking down, and one from below looking up, shows how the levels relate.
- **Include the building**: Converted warehouses and mills have character in their hallways and facades. A frame or two helps tell the story.

## What makes loft photos hard to finish

- **Tall windows on one wall**: Industrial windows throw strong light that falls off sharply across a deep floor.
- **Exposed brick and timber**: Warm, absorbent materials can look orange or muddy, especially under warm bulbs.
- **Polished concrete**: Concrete floors reflect window light and pick up color from walls and ceilings.
- **One open volume**: Living, kitchen and sleeping areas share one space, so any color drift between angles is easy to see.
- **Finished as one space**: NovaHDR finishes the property as a set with balanced exposure and consistent color, so every angle of the open room matches.
- **Raw character kept**: The look is natural, and nothing is painted, covered or added.

## Loft areas, common problems and what to send

| Area | Common exposure or color problem | What to send or check |
|---|---|---|
| Window wall | Bright glass, hard sun stripes | A frame shot along the windows |
| Far side of the room | Dim and lit only by fixtures | A view with pendants and lamps on |
| Brick walls | Orange cast under warm bulbs | Every brick view in the same upload |
| Concrete floor | Reflections and color from walls | All floor level views together |
| Mezzanine | Darker than the main room | Views from above and below |

## What does finishing loft photos mean?

Finishing loft photos is the exposure and color pass on a converted or industrial style home: balancing the bright window wall against the far side of a deep room, keeping brick and timber true and making concrete look neutral. NovaHDR does that pass across the set and returns it for your final review.

_It is not a style change. Brick, beams, ducts and concrete are not covered, cleaned up or added._

## Loft photo questions

### Will the exposed brick stay its real color?

That is the aim. Color is balanced across the set so brick does not turn orange in one view and grey in another.

### Will the hard sun stripes on the floor disappear?

Exposure is balanced, but strong light patterns that are in the source remain. Shoot when the sun is softer.

### Can the far side of the loft be brightened?

Exposure is balanced across the set, bringing darker areas closer to the window side, as far as the source detail allows.

### Will the industrial windows show the street?

Only if they do in the source. A window with no detail stays bright, so expose for some view on site.

### Can I shoot a loft on my phone?

Yes. Export JPEG, PNG or WebP files; NovaHDR works from single exposures.

### How much does a loft set cost?

$29 one-time for one property for up to 50 photos, or one plan credit.
