# Before and after renovation photos that show the real work

Renovated homes are photographed to show the work: new kitchens, bathrooms, floors and paint. Before and after pairs are most convincing when they match: the same position, height and focal length, ideally the same time of day, so the only difference is the renovation. New finishes such as matte paint, quartz, tile and fresh hardwood also need accurate color. NovaHDR finishes the renovated property as a set, so new paint and floors read with balanced exposure and the same color in every room, and the look stays natural. It does not change the renovation itself, so what the photos show is the finished work.

The work shown is the work done: no finishes, fixtures or materials are added or altered.

## Sending a renovated property

1. **Match the before angles and export** Return to the same positions you used for the before photos, keep the camera level, and export one JPEG, PNG or WebP per view.
2. **Upload the finished rooms together** Add the property, up to 50 photos. New paint and floors that run through the house should look the same in every room.
3. **Send, then line up the pairs** Select One Property or a plan credit and send the property for editing. Once the finished set arrives, 24 to 72 hours after you send the property, line up each after shot with its before.

## Habits for convincing renovation photos

Before and after photos only work if the comparison is fair. These habits make it so.

- **Mark the tripod positions**: Tape on the floor or a note of the distance from walls lets you return to the same spot after the work.
- **Use the same focal length**: A wider lens on the after shot exaggerates the change. Keep the same lens and zoom.
- **Keep the camera level**: Lines that lean in one shot and not the other make the pair hard to compare. Level the camera on site.
- **Match the time of day**: Daylight changes the look of a room a lot. Shoot before and after at a similar time.
- **Clean up the site**: Tools, dust and protective film on new appliances make the work look unfinished.
- **Show the details**: Close views of tile work, hardware and joinery show the quality of the renovation.

## What makes renovation photos tricky

- **Fair comparisons**: Before and after pairs are only persuasive when angle, lens and light match.
- **New finishes reflect**: Fresh paint, polished stone and new floors can show glare and color from windows.
- **Mixed new lighting**: Renovations often add new LED fixtures that differ in color from the old ones.
- **Accuracy matters**: Buyers and clients judge the quality of work from the photos, so color and detail should be true.
- **Consistent finished set**: NovaHDR finishes the renovated property as a set so new paint and floors carry consistent color through every room.
- **The work is not altered**: The finishing is exposure and color with a natural look; no finishes or features are added.

## Renovation photo areas and what to capture

| Area | Common problem | What to capture or send |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen remodel | Glare on new counters | An angle that controls reflections |
| Bathroom remodel | Small space, new tile | A level wide view plus tile details |
| New floors | Color shift between rooms | All rooms in one upload |
| Fresh paint | Tint from window light | A steady white balance |
| New fixtures | Mixed LED colors | Fixtures matched or switched off |
| Before and after pairs | Unequal angles | Same position, lens and time of day |

## What are before and after renovation photos?

Before and after renovation photos are matched pairs that show a room before and after work, taken from the same position with the same lens and similar light so the difference is clearly the renovation. They are used by contractors, flippers and agents. NovaHDR finishes the exported photos for balanced exposure and consistent color without changing the work shown.

_It is not a design preview. Nothing in the photos is changed to show a different finish._

## Renovation photo questions

### How do I take good before and after photos?

Shoot both from the same position, height and focal length, at a similar time of day, with the camera level.

### Can before and after photos go in the same property?

Yes, as long as the total is 50 photos or fewer. Each photo is finished as photographed.

### Will the new floor look the same color in every room?

The property is finished as a set for consistent color from room to room, and the floor keeps its real tone.

### Can protective film or tools be taken out of the shot?

No. Items in the source stay in the finished photo, so clean up before you shoot.

### Will glare on new counters be reduced?

Finishing balances exposure with a natural look, but strong glare is best controlled with angle and light on site.

### What does one renovated property cost?

A property of up to 50 photos is $29 one-time for one property.
