# Retail space photos with a readable shopfront and an even sales floor

Retail spaces are built around a glass frontage, and that glass is what makes them hard to photograph. From inside, the street is far brighter than the sales floor; from outside, the window mirrors the sky and the buildings opposite. Track spots, display lighting and fluorescent tubes in the back of house add their own colors. NovaHDR finishes a retail listing like any property photo set, with balanced exposure and consistent color across the frontage, the floor and the back rooms.

Shop fittings, signage and stock stay as photographed: nothing is added to a vacant unit and nothing is cleared from a trading one.

## How to send a retail unit for finishing

1. **Export the frontage and the floor** Choose the street view of the shopfront, the view in from the door, the sales floor from the back, any mezzanine, the stockroom and the restrooms. Export one JPEG, PNG or WebP for each, blending brackets yourself first if you used them.
2. **Upload the unit as one property** Give the property the unit's address and upload up to 50 photos. A unit with a long, narrow floor reads better when every section is finished in the same set.
3. **Send and review before the agent** Select One Property or a plan credit, then send the unit off for editing. Finished photos are back 24 to 72 hours after you send the property, and you check them before they go to the letting agent or landlord.

## Capture notes for retail units

A good retail set shows frontage, depth and condition. These habits help the source frames carry that information.

- **Shoot the frontage on an overcast hour or in open shade**: Hard sun on shop glass gives strong reflections. Softer light lets the interior show through the window.
- **Get low reflections from outside**: Stand at a slight angle to the glass and frame out bright buildings opposite, so the window shows the shop, not the street.
- **Light the whole floor**: Ask for every bank of lights to be on, including back of house. A dark rear section makes the unit feel shorter than it is.
- **Show the depth**: A view from the back wall toward the street shows how deep the unit goes and where the light comes from.
- **Record the condition plainly**: Vacant units are often marketed as a shell. Bare walls and exposed services should look clean and honest, since nothing is painted over later.
- **Keep shoppers out of frame**: In trading units, shoot before opening. People in the frame stay in the finished photo.

## What makes retail space photos hard to finish

- **Glass frontage**: The shopfront is the brightest part of almost every interior view and the most reflective part of every exterior view.
- **Narrow, deep plans**: Many high street units are much deeper than they are wide, so light falls off toward the back.
- **Display and track lighting**: Spotlights create bright pools on the floor and walls with darker gaps between them.
- **Back of house fixtures**: Stockrooms and staff areas often use cooler fluorescent fittings that differ from the shop floor.
- **Finished as one set**: NovaHDR finishes the photos you send with balanced exposure and consistent color, the same finishing used for any property set.
- **Source detail decides the frontage**: Finishing cannot recover a shop window that is completely white in the source, so expose for the glass on site.

## Retail areas, common problems and what to send

| Area | Common exposure or color problem | What to send or check |
|---|---|---|
| Shopfront from the street | Reflections of the sky and buildings | A frame shot at an angle in soft light |
| View in from the door | Bright street behind, dim floor ahead | A source exposed for the sales floor |
| Sales floor from the back | Bright window, darker rear | A frame that keeps detail in the glass |
| Display walls | Pools of track light | All floor views in the same upload |
| Stockroom | Cool fluorescent cast | Back of house sent with the shop floor |

## What does finishing retail space photos mean?

Finishing retail space photos is the final exposure and color pass on a shop or unit listing: balancing the bright frontage against a deep floor, evening out pools of track light and bringing the back of house in line with the shop. NovaHDR does that pass across the set and returns it for your final review.

_It is not a fit out mockup. Fixtures, stock, signage and finishes are not added, replaced or removed._

## Retail space photo questions

### Will reflections in the shop window be cleaned up?

No. Reflections in the source stay, so shoot the frontage at an angle and in soft light.

### Can a vacant shell unit look finished?

No. It is shown as photographed. Finishing balances exposure and color; it does not add flooring, fittings or paint.

### Will the back of a deep unit be brighter?

Exposure is balanced across the set, so the rear of the floor is brought into line as far as the source detail allows.

### Should I send the stockroom with the shop?

Yes, if it is part of the listing. Sending it in the same property keeps its color in line with the sales floor.

### What files should a retail shoot use?

One JPEG, PNG or WebP per view. RAW and TIFF files are not accepted, so export first.

### How is a retail unit priced?

Like any property: $29 one-time for one property for up to 50 photos.
