# Sony a7 III real estate photography: settings, lenses and a finished set

The Sony a7 III, launched in 2018, is still one of the most common full frame bodies on listing shoots, often bought used by photographers moving up from APS-C. Its sensor holds shadow detail well, which helps in dim rooms, but it still produces one exposure per press, and its older menus make it easy to leave Auto white balance or DRO on between rooms. NovaHDR finishes the JPEGs you export from it as one property, with balanced exposure and consistent color through the house.

An a7 III export is finished like any other JPEG, PNG or WebP; the camera body makes no difference to NovaHDR.

## Exporting a7 III photos for finishing

1. **Blend the brackets yourself** Bring the ARW sequences into Lightroom or your HDR software, blend each one there, and export a single JPEG per view; bracket sets and raw files are not accepted for upload.
2. **Create the property and upload** Name the listing and add the exports, interiors and exteriors together, up to 50 photos. Uploads save, so the exteriors you shoot last can join the property before you send it.
3. **Send, wait, review** Pick One Property or a plan credit and send the property. Expect the set back 24 to 72 hours after you send the property; the final yes before your client sees it is yours.

## a7 III settings real estate photographers commonly use

None of this is required, but these are typical a7 III starting points for listing interiors.

- **Bracket order and step**: In the Drive menu choose Continuous Bracket with 3 or 5 frames. Many shooters set Bracket Order to minus, zero, plus so sequences are easy to spot when sorting.
- **Add a self-timer to the bracket**: The a7 III Bracket Settings let you add a short self-timer before the sequence, so you do not need a remote for most rooms.
- **Kelvin white balance**: Set a fixed Kelvin value for the house, often somewhere around daylight, and keep it for every room so blends start from matching color.
- **Lens choice**: The FE 16 to 35mm f/4 is a common pairing; budget shooters use a manual focus 14mm prime. Avoid going wider than you need, or furniture near the edges stretches.
- **Dual card slots**: Writing to both SD slots gives a backup copy on site, useful when a listing cannot be reshot easily.
- **Mind the older menus**: The a7 III has no touch menu and settings are spread across many pages. Save a listing setup to a Memory Recall slot so you start every shoot the same way.

## What to know about the a7 III for listing photos

- **Full frame with forgiving shadows**: The a7 III sensor is known for cleaning up well in dim rooms, which is why many owners shoot fewer brackets in evenly lit homes.
- **Older menu layout**: Compared with the a7 IV, settings are deeper in menus, and Creative Style rather than Creative Look shapes in-camera JPEGs.
- **A popular used body**: Many a7 III bodies on listing shoots are second hand, so check shutter count and sensor dust before relying on one.
- **DRO is easy to forget**: If DRO is on, in-camera JPEGs change tone frame by frame; it does not change ARW files but it changes previews when you judge exposure.
- **A consistent finished set**: NovaHDR finishes the whole property together, so color and exposure line up across rooms, with a natural look.
- **What it does not do**: It does not merge a7 III brackets or read ARW files; detail lost in a clipped window cannot be recovered.

## Sony a7 III setup for a listing

| Setting | Common choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Drive | Continuous Bracket, 3 or 5 frames | Covers bright windows and dark corners |
| Self-timer | 2 seconds, set in Bracket Settings | No shake from the press |
| White balance | Fixed Kelvin for the house | Rooms start from matching color |
| Aperture | Around f/8 | Front to back sharpness |
| Lens | 16 to 35mm f/4 or 14mm prime | Wide without extreme stretch |
| Card slots | Write to both | On-site backup |

## What does finishing Sony a7 III real estate photos mean?

It is the final exposure and color pass across the whole property, applied to the merged or single-frame exports you make from the a7 III. NovaHDR does not touch the camera or the raw files; it brings the exported rooms into one consistent, natural-looking set for your review.

_It is not bracket blending, raw processing or an a7 III picture setting._

## Sony a7 III real estate questions

### Is the Sony a7 III good for real estate photography?

Yes. It is a proven full frame body with good shadow detail, dual card slots and a large choice of wide E-mount lenses, and it costs much less used than newer bodies.

### What are good a7 III settings for real estate?

A common starting point is a tripod, f/8, base ISO, a fixed Kelvin white balance and a 3 or 5 frame Continuous Bracket with a self-timer. Adjust for each house.

### Which wide angle lens should I pair with the a7 III?

The FE 16 to 35mm f/4 is a popular choice; a 14mm prime is a common budget alternative. Both keep most rooms framed without extreme stretch.

### Does NovaHDR merge my a7 III brackets?

No. Blend each sequence in your own software, then export one JPEG, PNG or WebP per view for upload.

### Can a clipped window from the a7 III be fixed?

Only if some detail is in the file you send. A window that is pure white in the exported image stays white after finishing.

### What does finishing an a7 III listing cost?

Up to 50 exported photos make one property, $29 one-time for one property, or one credit if you have a plan.
