WORKFLOW

A listing workflow where the next shoot does not wait for the last edit

A real estate photography workflow runs from the booking to the delivered gallery: confirm the shot list, prepare the home, capture, offload, build one image per view, finish exposure and color, review, deliver and invoice. The bottleneck is rarely the shoot itself. It is the finishing pass that waits until evening and grows with every property you book. NovaHDR lets you move that pass out of your week: upload the exported set, send the property, and plan on the finished photos 24 to 72 hours later, so the next booking does not have to wait on the last edit.

Built around the photographer's operation: the shoot, the review and the client stay yours.

What a real estate photography workflow covers

A workflow is the repeatable sequence a photographer runs for every listing, including the business steps around the camera. It starts with scheduling and access to the property, covers what happens on site and on the computer, and ends when the client has usable files and the job is invoiced. A good workflow is one where each property takes a predictable amount of time and no single step piles up while others wait.

A workflow is broader than post processing, which is only the computer side after capture. See real estate photography post processing for that stage in detail.

A listing workflow with the finishing pass handed off

  1. 01

    Book and brief

Confirm the address, access, the rooms the agent wants and when the listing goes live. That go-live date is what your delivery has to beat.

  2. 02

    Shoot and offload

Capture the property your usual way, then back up the cards before anything else. Keep your own source copies; an editing service is not an archive.

  3. 03

    Build one image per view

Cull, then merge brackets or blend layers in your own software if you shoot that way, and export JPEG, PNG or WebP files.

  4. 04

    Send the property to NovaHDR

Name the property, upload up to 50 photos, choose One Property or a plan credit, and send it. Saved uploads wait for you if you are interrupted.

  5. 05

    Shoot the next listing

While the set is finished, you can take the next booking. Finished photos arrive 24 to 72 hours after you send the property.

  6. 06

    Review, deliver and invoice

Check the set room by room, deliver it through your gallery or the agent's upload, and close the job.

What changes in your week

The evening editing block shrinks

The repetitive exposure and color corrections between shoot and handoff move to NovaHDR instead of piling up after dark.

Delivery you can schedule

A set sent today arrives 24 to 72 hours later, so you can promise agents a realistic date.

One property, one credit

Each property covers up to 50 photos and uses one credit, which keeps job costing simple.

Credits that carry over

On a monthly plan, unused property credits roll over up to a cap, so a quiet week does not waste them.

Your capture habits stay

NovaHDR does not replace your capture, merge or publishing software; it slots in after export.

Workflow steps NovaHDR does not take over

Delivery to the client

NovaHDR returns the set to you. Galleries, listing uploads and client communication remain in your workflow.

Merging and file conversion

Export finished JPEG, PNG or WebP files first; bracket sets, RAW and TIFF are not accepted.

Short-notice promises

Plan around 24 to 72 hours after you send the property, plus your own review, when you quote a delivery date.

Cosmetic edits

Staging, sky and object work belong to whichever tool or vendor already handles them for you.

Two ways the same week can run

DayFinishing every set yourselfHanding the pass to NovaHDR
MondayShoot two properties, edit one in the eveningShoot two properties, upload both sets that night and send them
TuesdayEdit the second property, decline a same-week bookingShoot the booking you would have declined
WednesdayDeliver both sets late in the dayReview the first finished sets as they arrive and deliver
ThursdayCatch up on the Tuesday shootSend Tuesday's property and shoot again

Signs your workflow is editing-bound

You turn down weekday bookings because last week's sets are still open. You deliver on the third day even when the shoot took an hour. Agents ask for a delivery date and you answer with a range that depends on how tired you are. Your best-paid hours, the ones on site, are capped by your worst-paid hours at the desk.

When those signs show up, the fix is not a faster preset. It is moving the repeated part of the finishing pass somewhere it can run while you are shooting, and keeping the judgment, your final review, where it belongs.

Questions about real estate photography workflows

Where is the usual bottleneck in a real estate photography workflow?

The finishing pass after the shoot. Capture is bounded by the property, but the editing pass grows with every frame and tends to land late in the day, next to preparation for the following shoot.

How do I fit NovaHDR into my existing workflow?

Keep everything up to export the same. Instead of opening the set for the exposure and color pass, upload the exported images to a NovaHDR property and send it. Pick up again at your final review.

Can I upload a set in more than one session?

Yes. Uploaded photos are saved, so you can add the rest later and send the property when the set is complete.

How should I quote delivery to agents?

Count from when you send the property: finished photos arrive within 24 to 72 hours of that, then add your own review time. Quote from that window, not sooner.

Does a monthly plan make sense for my volume?

If you shoot several properties a month, a plan gives you property credits each month; Solo includes 5 credits, and unused ones roll over up to 15. For an occasional job, buy One Property instead.

What should I keep as backup?

Your own source copies. You keep ownership of the photos you submit, and the service is not a backup archive, so your offload and backup step stays part of the workflow.

Who is responsible for what the listing shows?

You and the listing professional. You keep the final review before delivery and publication, and photos should never be edited to misrepresent a property.

What does a two-shoot day look like with the pass handed off?

Shoot the morning property, export and upload over lunch, then send it before the afternoon shoot. Repeat in the evening for the second property. Both sets come back within the 24 to 72 hour window while you keep shooting, and your evening is spent on export and upload, not on correcting frames.
