CANON CAMERAS
Canon real estate photography, from EOS R and EF bodies to a finished set
Canon bodies cover the whole range of listing work, from the 5D Mark IV and 6D Mark II DSLRs still in service to mirrorless RF bodies like the R5, R6 and the budget R8 and R50. Whatever the body, Auto Lighting Optimizer, Picture Styles and Auto white balance change each frame on their own, so a set shot room by room rarely matches straight out of camera. NovaHDR finishes the images you export from your Canon workflow as one property, with balanced exposure and consistent color from room to room.
NovaHDR reads no Canon settings: CR2 and CR3 raw files stay in your editor, and the JPEG, PNG or WebP you export is finished.
One property covers up to 50 photos.

Sending Canon photos for finishing
- 01
Blend or select in your own editor
Blend AEB sequences in Lightroom, Photomatix or Aurora on your computer, or pick one strong frame, and export a single JPEG per view. CR2 and CR3 files and bracket sets are not accepted.
- 02
Upload the whole home
Create the property in NovaHDR and add up to 50 photos, every room plus the exteriors, so the set is finished together.
- 03
Send, receive, review
Choose One Property or a plan credit and send the property. Your finished photos arrive 24 to 72 hours after you send the property, for your review before the client sees them.
How Canon shooters commonly set up for interiors
These are common starting points across Canon bodies on listing shoots. Adjust them to the house and the light.
AEB from the shooting menu
Auto Exposure Bracketing sets the step and shot count; combine it with the 2 second self-timer, and Canon fires the whole sequence after one press.
Turn Auto Lighting Optimizer off
ALO lifts shadows differently on every frame and changes the preview you judge by. Most bracketing shooters switch it off.
Watch Highlight Tone Priority
HTP protects highlights but raises the lowest ISO and can deepen shadow noise; many interior shooters leave it off and bracket instead.
Neutral Picture Style
Standard or Neutral keeps previews close to the file. Landscape or high-contrast styles make rooms look punchier than they are.
Pick a lens for the mount
RF bodies use the RF 14 to 35mm f/4L or RF 15 to 35mm f/2.8L, or an adapted EF 16 to 35mm f/4L; APS-C bodies need the RF-S 10 to 18mm. Tilt-shift lenses like the TS-E 17mm keep verticals upright in camera.
Set white balance for the house
A fixed Kelvin value or preset keeps every room, and every frame in a bracket, on the same color.
What to know about Canon files for listing work
Two mounts, two eras
EF DSLRs like the 5D Mark IV and 6D Mark II sit beside RF mirrorless bodies; EF lenses adapt to RF bodies with Canon's adapter.
Canon crops by 1.6x on APS-C
The R50 and other APS-C bodies frame tighter than Sony or Nikon APS-C, so a 10mm lens is the practical minimum.
In-camera helpers vary frame by frame
ALO and Auto white balance tune each photo separately, which is why rooms shot minutes apart can look different.
Raw files stay on your side
CR2 and CR3 are Canon raw files; they are blended and exported in your own software.
Finished as one property
NovaHDR finishes all exported rooms together, balancing exposure and keeping color consistent.
Single frames and blends both welcome
Send one merged export or one single exposure per view. NovaHDR does not merge brackets.

What does finishing Canon real estate photos mean?
Finishing Canon real estate photos is the property-wide exposure and color pass after you have blended or chosen frames and exported them. It works the same for an R5 file as for a 6D Mark II file: the rooms you send are brought into one consistent, natural-looking set for your final review.
It is not CR3 conversion, an AEB blend or a Picture Style, and nothing is added to the rooms.
Canon real estate photography questions
What is the best Canon lens for real estate photography?
On full frame, a 16 to 35mm f/4 class zoom covers most rooms; tilt-shift lenses suit architectural work. On APS-C, the RF-S 10 to 18mm is the common choice.
What Canon settings do photographers use for real estate?
Tripod, around f/8, base ISO, ALO off, a fixed white balance and AEB with a self-timer are common. Change them for each home.
Can I upload Canon CR3 or CR2 files?
No. Export JPEG, PNG or WebP from your editor first.
Does NovaHDR handle Canon photos differently?
No. There is no camera-specific treatment; the exported image is finished with the rest of the property.
Should I use a Canon DSLR or mirrorless for listings?
Both work. Mirrorless shows exposure in the viewfinder, which helps; a well-kept 5D Mark IV or 6D Mark II still produces excellent sources.
What does it cost to finish a Canon shoot?
Each property, up to 50 photos, is $29 one-time for one property, or one plan credit.
