SONY CAMERAS
Sony real estate photography: E-mount bodies, wide lenses and a finished set
Sony is one of the most common systems in real estate photography, from used a7 III bodies to small APS-C cameras like the a6400. The full frame a7 line and the APS-C a6000 line share the E-mount and the same bracket drive menus, but each room still comes out of the camera with its own exposure and, on Auto white balance, its own color. NovaHDR finishes the JPEGs you export from your merge or single-frame workflow as one property, with balanced exposure and consistent color from room to room.
NovaHDR has no Sony profile: ARW files stay in your editor, and the JPEG, PNG or WebP you export is what gets finished.
One property covers up to 50 photos.

From a Sony card to a finished property
- 01
Blend in your editor, export one file per view
If you bracketed, blend each sequence in Lightroom, Photomatix or Aurora yourself; NovaHDR does not take ARW files or bracket sets. Export one JPEG, PNG or WebP per view.
- 02
Upload the property
Name the listing in NovaHDR and upload the exports, up to 50 photos and 2 GiB per property, with exteriors in the same upload as the rooms.
- 03
Send and review
Choose One Property or a plan credit and send it. Finished photos come back 24 to 72 hours after you send the property, and the final check before the client stays with you.
How photographers commonly set up a Sony for interiors
The specifics change by body, but most Sony shooters on listings land on similar settings. These are common starting points, not rules.
Bracket from the Drive menu
Continuous Bracket fires a 3 or 5 frame sequence from one press. Pair it with the 2 second self-timer on a tripod so the press itself does not blur the first frame.
Turn DRO and Auto HDR off
Dynamic Range Optimizer and in-camera Auto HDR change tone frame by frame and only touch JPEGs. Leave them off when you bracket and blend later.
Fix white balance per shoot
Pick a Kelvin value or a preset for the house rather than Auto, so a bracket and the next room start from the same color.
Choose the wide lens for the format
Full frame bodies usually pair with a 16 to 35mm or 12 to 24mm zoom; APS-C bodies need a 10 to 18mm or 10 to 20mm to see the same room.
Stop down moderately
Around f/8 keeps a room front to back sharp on full frame; on APS-C a slightly wider aperture gives similar depth.
Shoot from chest or counter height
Level the camera with the built-in electronic level so walls start upright in the source.
What to know about Sony files for listing work
Two sensor formats, one mount
The a7 line is full frame and the a6000 line and ZV-E10 are APS-C with a 1.5x crop, so the same lens frames a room much tighter on APS-C.
ARW raw files
Sony raw files are ARW; they are edited and blended in your own software, then exported.
Auto white balance shifts room to room
Sony bodies set Auto white balance per frame, so a warm living room and a cool hallway rarely match without a fixed setting.
Creative Style and Creative Look
Older bodies use Creative Style and newer ones Creative Look; both are baked into JPEGs made in camera.
Finished as one set
NovaHDR finishes the exported property as a whole, so the rooms read with consistent color and balanced exposure.
Merged exports and single frames both work
Send one blended image or one single exposure per view. RAW, TIFF and bracket sets are not accepted, and NovaHDR does not merge brackets.
Sony bodies, formats and common wide lenses

| a7 III | Full frame | FE 16 to 35mm f/4 or a 14mm prime |
| a7 IV | Full frame | FE 16 to 35mm f/4 G or FE 12 to 24mm f/4 G |
| a6400 | APS-C | E 10 to 18mm f/4 OSS |
| a6700 | APS-C | E 10 to 20mm f/4 PZ G or Sigma 10 to 18mm |

What does finishing Sony real estate photos mean?
Finishing Sony real estate photos is the property-wide exposure and color pass after you have blended or chosen your frames and exported them. NovaHDR works from one image per view and brings the whole listing into balance with a natural look, so a gallery shot on an a7 or an a6000 body reads as one home.
It is not raw conversion, bracket blending or a Sony picture profile, and nothing is added to the rooms.
Sony real estate photography questions
What is the best Sony lens for real estate photography?
On full frame, many photographers use a 16 to 35mm f/4 zoom; on APS-C, a 10 to 18mm or 10 to 20mm. Pick the lens that fits your body's format and keeps edges reasonable.
Should I shoot Sony brackets or single frames for listings?
Brackets help in rooms with bright windows; single frames are fine in evenly lit rooms. Either way, blend or edit in your own software and export one image per view.
Can I upload Sony ARW files to NovaHDR?
No. ARW and other raw files are not accepted. Export JPEG, PNG or WebP from your editor first.
Does NovaHDR read Sony settings or picture profiles?
No. There is no camera-specific handling. The exported image is what is finished, whatever body made it.
Is full frame or APS-C Sony better for interiors?
Full frame gives cleaner shadows in dark rooms and a wider lens choice; APS-C bodies are lighter and cheaper and work well in bright homes with a 10 to 18mm lens.
What does one Sony shoot cost to finish?
Each property, up to 50 photos, is $29 one-time for one property on its own, or one credit on a plan.
