NovaHDR vs Lightroom Classic: hand off the finish or edit every room yourself

Lightroom Classic is Adobe's desktop photo editor, and its Photo Merge can combine exposure-bracketed images into a single HDR DNG. You run the merge and every correction yourself. NovaHDR takes the step after that: you export the merged or single-exposure photos, send up to 50 per property, and get the set back with balanced exposure and consistent color. Choose Lightroom Classic when you want full control of every image. Choose NovaHDR when you want time back between the shoot and the handoff.

How NovaHDR and Lightroom Classic differ

Control or hand-off

Lightroom Classic gives you every slider and setting, and the edit is yours from merge to export. NovaHDR is for the photographer who wants to hand off the last exposure and color pass instead of making every correction themselves.

Bracket merging

Lightroom Classic merges bracketed images with Auto Align, Auto Tone and deghost settings, and saves the result as a DNG. NovaHDR does not merge brackets; it works from the exported images.

Consistency across rooms

In Lightroom Classic, matching color from the kitchen to the bedrooms is a job you do yourself, image by image or with synced settings. NovaHDR finishes the property as a set, with coherent color from room to room.

Cost model

Lightroom Classic comes with Adobe's Lightroom (1TB) plan at US$11.99 a month or the Photography (1TB) plan at US$19.99 a month, annual billed monthly, as of October 2026. NovaHDR is paid per property or by plan, and you keep your editor for other work.

About each option

NovaHDR

NovaHDR is property photo editing for real estate photographers. You name the property, upload up to 50 JPEG, PNG or WebP photos, choose One Property or a plan, and send the property for editing. The finished set comes back in 24 to 72 hours with balanced exposure and consistent color from room to room, a natural look rather than a redesigned room, and you keep the final review before it goes to your client. RAW, TIFF and bracket sets are not accepted: merge and export brackets first.

Lightroom Classic

Lightroom Classic is Adobe's desktop photo editor and catalog. Its HDR Photo Merge combines exposure-bracketed images into one HDR DNG, with Auto Align, Auto Tone and deghost options. It is sold in Adobe plans such as Lightroom (1TB) at US$11.99 a month, and the editing is done by you in the software.

Questions about NovaHDR and Lightroom Classic

Do I still need Lightroom Classic with NovaHDR?

Many photographers keep it for culling, merging and export. NovaHDR does not replace capture, merge or publishing software; it finishes the exported set.

Can NovaHDR take my Lightroom HDR DNG files?

No. NovaHDR accepts JPEG, PNG and WebP. Export the merged images to one of those formats first.

Is Lightroom Classic cheaper?

Its plan starts at US$11.99 a month, as of October 2026, but you do the editing. NovaHDR is $29 one-time for one property for a finished set.

Will the look match my own edits?

NovaHDR aims for a natural look: bright enough to understand the space, restrained enough to keep its character. You review the set before delivery.
