HOME OFFICE PHOTOS

Home office photos with a bright desk and a readable room

A home office is usually a spare bedroom or den with the desk pushed against the window for daylight, so the camera looks straight into the brightest part of the room. Monitors, a cool task lamp and dark bookshelves add their own problems: screens glow blue, shelves full of books swallow light and the corners behind the door fall dim. NovaHDR finishes the office in the same set as the rest of the property, so the desk area reads clearly, the shelving keeps its shape and the room matches the bedrooms and hallway around it.

Desks, screens and shelves stay as photographed: nothing is added, removed or replaced.

One property covers up to 50 photos.

Getting a home office ready to send

  1. 01

Export one or two views of the office

A wide from the doorway that shows the desk and window, plus a second angle of any built in shelving, covers most home offices. Save each as JPEG, PNG or WebP, and merge brackets yourself before export if you shoot them.

  2. 02

Add the office to the property upload

Name the property and upload the office with the bedrooms, living spaces and exteriors, up to 50 photos. Offices often share flooring and paint with nearby bedrooms, which only match reliably when finished together.

  3. 03

    Send the property and review

Choose One Property or a plan credit, then send the property for editing. The finished set comes back 24 to 72 hours after you send the property, for your own check before delivery.

Home office capture notes

Offices tend to be the most cluttered room in an occupied house. Most of the improvement happens before you press the shutter.

Turn the monitors off

Bright screens add a blue glow to the desk and draw the eye. A dark monitor reads as furniture rather than a light source.

Pick one lamp color

Desk lamps are often cool white while the ceiling light is warm. Turn one of them off so the room has a single artificial color.

Tidy the cables and paperwork

Cable bundles, sticky notes and stacks of paper stay visible after finishing. Coil cables behind the desk and clear the surface.

Shoot across the window, not into it

An angle where the window is at the side of the frame rather than straight ahead keeps the desk from becoming a silhouette.

Show the room's other use

If the office could be a bedroom, include the closet in one frame so buyers can see the option.

Watch the chair

Push the office chair in or turn it to face the room. A chair turned away looks unfinished.

What makes home offices hard to photograph

Desk facing the window

Offices are commonly set up with the desk under a window, which puts the brightest area right behind the main subject.

Screens and task lamps

Monitors give off cool blue light and task lamps are often a different color from the room lights, so the desk area can shift color.

Dark shelving absorbs light

Built in bookcases and full shelves are dense and dark, and they can lose all their detail if the room is underexposed.

Usually a converted bedroom

Many offices are bedrooms in disguise, so they share paint and carpet with the bedrooms and should look the same in the set.

Matched to the rest of the house

NovaHDR finishes the office together with the other rooms, so its color agrees with the bedrooms and hallway.

Clutter stays

The work is exposure and color. Cables, papers and screens are not removed.

What does finishing a home office photo mean?

Finishing a home office photo is the exposure and color pass that holds the window behind the desk, opens up dark shelves and removes the competing tints of screens and lamps, without changing the room. NovaHDR does that for the whole property, so the office looks like it belongs to the same house as the bedrooms next to it.

It is not decluttering or staging on screen: cables, paperwork, screens and furniture are not removed or replaced.

Home office photo questions

Should the computer monitors be on for listing photos?

Usually off. A switched on screen adds blue light and draws attention; a dark monitor reads as part of the desk.

Can cables under the desk be removed?

No. Clutter in the frame stays in the frame, so coil or hide cables on site before shooting the office.

My desk is in front of the window. Will it look dark?

If the desk has detail in the source, finishing brings it into balance with the window. A window that is pure white stays white, so expose for some outside detail.

Will the office match the bedroom across the hall?

Yes, when both are in the same property. Rooms finished in one set share their color balance.

What does it cost to include the office?

The office is just another photo in the property: up to 50 photos per property, $29 one-time for one property or one plan credit.
